Originally selected in Germany, Aruncus dioicus 'Kneiffii' introduces a delicate quality to the woodland landscape. This variety is celebrated for its highly refined leaf shape that stands in contrast to the heavier, rugged appearance of the species.
'Kneiffii' is an exceptionally cold-hardy perennial that reliably handles the challenges of Finland.
What sets 'Kneiffii' apart is its deeply laciniated, thread-like foliage that creates a remarkably soft, fern-like texture throughout the season. The fine-textured leaves emerge a bright green in early spring before settling into a rich, deep green at maturity. During summer, airy plumes of creamy-white flowers rise above the canopy, blooming reliably and aging cleanly into structural seed heads that are highly valued for cut arrangements.
In terms of garden design, the fine-textured nature of 'Kneiffii' makes it an excellent contrast piece to plant alongside bold, large-leaved perennials like hostas or as a soft structural filler. It functions beautifully in full sun where fine texture is harder to come by.
